The much awaited 3G services finally saw the light of the day as PSU, MTNL launched the services in Delhi circle.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated the services in the presence of Communications Minister A Raja by making a video call. Congratulating the PSU on the launch the PM said, "Competition has to be the major propeller of the Indian economy and it has to be a sustainable one.” "However, effective objective and impartial regulations have to be an integral part of all these processes for investors to invest further," he added.
RSP Sinha, chairman and managing director, MTNL said, “We believe in providing the latest technology and services to our customers and are proud to be the first telecom services provider in India to launch the 3G service. We are working closely with technology partners like Motorola to provide a suite of advanced mobile applications that are not being offered by any other existing carriers. We believe these services will create a paradigm shift in the mobile experience of the Indian consumer.”
The service clubbed as ‘Jadoo’ will initially be on offer in Delhi to be followed by Mumbai launch within couple of months.
Motorola is the technology partner for MTNL in this initiative. |
