TT Correspondent |  |  04 Apr 2018

Cable multi-system-operator (MSO) DEN Networks has decided to use its existing fibre-cable infrastructure to provide high speed broadband to its cable TV subscribers.

The low-capital expenditure model will be rolled out next week in 100 cities and towns across 11states in the next 12 months, where DEN already offers digital cable service. “High-speed broadband is integral for the digital India initiative and we want to play a major role in this by leveraging our digital infrastructure,” SN Sharma, CEO, DEN Networks, told ET.

According to the plan, starting April 18, DEN will empower its vast network of local cable operators to install fibre cable till the last mile on a revenue sharing basis.

Sharma said that “In phase I, we have identified 100 cities with strong presence. We have already run a pilot project in five cities and have seen huge success. The board has given its go ahead for the plan and we see a maximum of ?30-40 crore of investment in the capex, which will be met by the internal accruals”.
