Detailed Review

Design:

Sony Xperia GO is Sony’s first anti dust, anti water and scratch resistant phone. With dimensions 111mm, 60.3mm and 9.8 mm in height, width and depth Xperia GO is a very compact phone. The screen size is just 3.5 inches and is scratch resistant too. We believe the screen size should have been at least 3.7 inches if not 4 inches. The weight of the phone is just 110 gm and is ease to carry. On the top of the phone is a power key and the left side has a 3.5 mm earjack. The right side has volume controls joined by the micro USB port. Below the screens are three capacitive keys for Back, Home and Menu. But, it lacks with front facing camera that definitely will bother you.

Interface/OS:

Sony Xperia GO runs on Google Android 2.3 gingerbread operating system and the company plans to upgrade it to Android 4.0 version. The 1 GHz cortex A9 Dual Core processor supports this android version well. Its 512 MB RAM is disappointing.

Camera:

The Xperia GO gives you 5 megapixels main camera with LED flash light. But, what depresses a user is that it has no secondary camera. So, you cannot think of video calling at all. The camera features Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection and 3D sweep panorama as well. The picture quality, when tested by our team, was great with outdoor shoots but indoor shoots were comparatively week.

Battery:

The battery of Sony Xperia GO supports Li-Ion 1305 mAh standard battery. The battery works fine with average use but discharges early while data usage. The stand by time was up to 500 hours on 2G and 430 hours on 3G. The music play time is up to 42 hours whereas, the Talk time it gave when on test was up to 6 hours on 2G and up to 5 hours on 3G.

Memory:

Xperia GO has in-built 8 GB memory space and is upgradeable up to 32 GB. So, you can enjoy good memory space.

Audio/Video:

the in-built music player is simply superb and it will give you good sound with pleasure to your ears and supports multiple audio formats. The video quality is good and rich with colours and sharpness and video formats comes with multiple support. It gives you HD 720 pixels resolution at 30 frames per second with 16X camera zoom and video light. It has continuous auto focus, video light and video stabilizer.

Features:

Sony Xperia GO is filled with plenty of features which are impressive and worth its price. For music lovers there is Xloud, 3D surround sound and clear bass as new options. Web browser, Web Kit, Bookmarks, Pan & zoom, Android Market, Google Voice Search, Google search, etc are pre installed in the phone. It has features such as Document readers, Alarm clock, Calendar, Calculator, Flight mode, Google Calendar, Phone book, E-manual, and Infinite, which are easy to use. Rest all that you require you can easily get from the Android Market.

Conclusion:

The Xperia GO from Sony is a great phone in Xperia series. You will enjoy most of its features like Anti dust, Anti water and scratch resistant screen and pre installed applications. If you are looking for a good camera, this is not for you as it lacks front camera. Its other negative points are its week battery and 512 MB of RAM. Otherwise, this is a handsome phone for daily use.
