India’s apex court, on Monday, directed 2G scam petitioner and advocate Prashant Bhushan to reveal the whistleblower in the controversial visitors log-book relating to CBI chief, in a sealed envelope.
CBI director Ranjit Sinha had earlier questioned the very existence of the diary and authenticity of its contents. He was, on September 10, directed by the Supreme Court to respond to a plea accusing him of meeting the coal scam accused at his residence. It had also directed Sinha to explain his stand by September 19.
Bhushan had earlier cited a news item in DNA Newspaper and brought to the court’s notice that the visitors’ entry register at Sinha’s residence is “very disturbing” and contains “explosive material”. The court took a serious view and asked Bhushan to file an affidavit in support of the documents, so that it can pass an appropriate order.
