After the Supreme Court's observations last month, over the failure of the government in blocking child pornography on several sites. Now the government has asked telecom operators and internet service providers (ISPs) to block 857 porn sites. The order, issued under the section 79(3)(B) with article 19(2).

Users of MTNL, BSNL and ACT broadband have claimed that porn websites aren’t opening on their systems.

However, The Times of India is reporting that sources in the government claim that there is no ban on porn, but the denial of access of temporary as there isn't a regulatory process at the moment.

And also there is no law in India that prohibits viewing pornography, Section 67 of the Information Technology Act only deals with "publishing obscene information in electronic form".

Telecom operators have already said it will be difficult to block all pornographic content.

Earlier in July, the government has assured the Supreme Court that all possible measures would be taken to block porn sites, specially those deals with child pornography.
