The trends of auctions for the broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum reflect that the 11 players who are competing against each other for the spectrum, are bidding high for category ‘A’ and metro circles which are considered to be high revenue generating circles.
Prices for Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu saw bids reaching Rs.332.96 crore while those for Kolkata and Punjab reached Rs.136.28 crore. Bids for Kerala touched Rs.106.98 crore.
Overall, Twelve circles saw excessive demand, while eight regions saw negative demands.
The pan-India price reached Rs.3,198 crore on the second day of auction.
There are 11 companies competing to bid for BWA spectrum including Bharti Airtel, Reliance, Idea Cellular, Aircel, Vodafone, Tata Communications Internet Services, Augere, Tikona Wireless, Infotel Broadband Services, Qualcomm, Spice Internet and Infotel.
Telecom Minister A Raja had said he expected Rs 15,000 crore from the BWA spectrum auction. |
