Indian government to launch its own homegrown BOSS OS for official use

Indian government is all set to unveil a new version of its own BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions) OS and will present it to all government stakeholders on September 15.

The new OS, developed by C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing). The software was initially launched back in January 2007.

The Linux-based BOSS, the new OS is developed with the help of Gujarat Technical University, DRDO and some other private computer manufacturers.

It is mainly develop to stop the cyber attacks in recent times and also try to reduce the dependence on other operating software like Windows.

The new OS has successfully passed a crash test which the DRDO, Indian Army and other state-entities have been working hard to clear with their own systems.

The new OS supports a wide range of Indian languages as well.
