Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced an expansion to its ProLiant Gen10 portfolio with the new single-processor HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server, based on the AMD EPYC™ processors, providing dual-processor performance at single-processor economics. The HPE ProLiant DL325 delivers more performance than a leading competitor with two processors at a lower price, resulting in 25 percent better price performance.
Economic Break-through for Virtualized and Software Defined Storage Applications
With today’s application and data demands, and single-processor servers having traditionally shipped with low-performance processors, limited memory and I/O, organizations have been forced to purchase a dual-processor server to achieve necessary levels of performance.
With the introduction of the HPE ProLiant DL325, featuring the AMD EPYC architecture, customers gain the following benefits:
• Achieve enterprise class process, memory and I/O performance, and security without paying for a dual-processor server.
• Save thousands of dollars on software licensing when per processor software licensing costs are taken into account.
• Optimize dense server virtualization and software-defined storage workloads with up to 32 processor cores, 2 terabytes of memory and up to 40 terabytes of NVMe storage in a 1U chassis.
The HPE ProLiant DL325 delivers up to a 27 percent lower cost per virtual machine (VM) than the leading dual-processor competitor for virtualization, and sets the bar for single-processor virtualization performance. In addition, with HPE OneView, customers can dramatically speed up many system management tasks, including the deployment of new virtual machines.
“Customers are trying to accelerate delivery of new products and services and need innovative technology to achieve their business goals,” said Vikram K, Senior Director, Hybrid IT, HPE India. “We have teamed with AMD to deliver the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server to take full advantage of the AMD EPYC architecture and deliver leadership single-processor virtualization performance while dramatically lowering total cost of ownership (TCO).”
Expanding HPE Gen10, the Most Secure Industry Standard Server Portfolio with the HPE Silicon Root of Trust
The HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server features the HPE Silicon Root of Trust, a custom embedded security chip that links with essential server firmware and connects with the AMD Secure Processor in the AMD EPYC™ SoC, improving security by ensuring it does not execute compromised firmware code.
The AMD Secure Processor can validate the HPE firmware before the server is allowed to boot up, bringing a new level of security to support customers, especially in the public sector, financial services and healthcare industries, where data protection is crucial.
Broad AMD Portfolio from SMB to High Performance Computing
HPE has a deep and long-lasting partnership with AMD and has been a lead partner on the design and introduction of the first AMD server processor to the latest generation AMD EPYC processor.
HPE continues to broaden its portfolio of AMD-based servers from HPE Moonshot, HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10, HPE Cloudline, and HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 to the newest server with the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10.
The collaboration between HPE and AMD will continue, with additional servers planned for the future.
“The AMD EPYC SoC delivers optimal cores, memory, and I/O to enable flexibility and performance for today’s diverse workloads,” said Scott Aylor, corporate vice president and general manager, datacenter and embedded solutions group, AMD. “By partnering with HPE to deliver dual-processor performance with single-processor TCO in the new HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server, businesses can leverage a no-compromise single-processor server to address a range of workloads that previously required a dual-processor server.”
The HPE ProLiant DL325 will start shipping in July. The HPE ProLiant DL325 and HPE ProLiant DL385 will be certified as VMware vSAN Ready Nodes. Additionally, the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 server now supports the AMD Radeon Instinct™ MI25 Accelerator to provide massive acceleration for highly parallel high performance computing applications. |
