Obapay partners Grameen to make mobile banking reach world’s 1 bn poor people

Obapay Inc, a US-based mobile payment service provider has partnered with Bangladesh’s Grameen Solutions, in an initiative namely- `The Grameen-Obopay Bank A Billion'', to enable 1 billion of world’s poorest to employ mobile phones to access banking services by 2018.

 

According to the collaboration, Grameen Solutions will provide the domain expertise and Obopay on the other hand will offer the technology requisites.

 

Furthermore, the initiative seeks to provide poor an access to affordable financial services, including cross-border remittances, money transfer, payment, savings and credit accounts, said the companies.

 

The companies will start rolling out services in October.
