Ericsson multi-screen TV solution recognized with IIP&TV industry award
TT Correspondent |  |  28 Mar 2012

Ericsson has said on Tuesday that its most powerful and flexible solution for the growing multi-screen market, the Ericsson SPR1200 multi-screen stream processor and Ericsson NPR12000 multi-screen network processor, has been recognized with an IP&TV Industry Award 2012.

This is the sixth consecutive year that the Ericsson team has achieved success at the awards and validates Ericsson’s approach to helping operators to provide richer and more convenient ways for viewers to consume, socialize, and discover content on more devices.

The video processing solution, part of the Ericsson Multiscreen TV solution, combines hardware and software to enable the massive expansion in processing needed to deliver linear and live TV channels within a multi-screen offering. It offers unmatched levels of density, scalability and cost effectiveness, changing the landscape for multi-screen TV service enablement.

"Our research into consumer TV trends and associated value clearly identifies the expectation that multi-screen TV services will need to offer all the choice of linear and live TV channels that consumers have today on the big screen TV. This IP&TV Industry Award reflects the pioneering moves we are making to enable these true multi-screen TV consumer experiences. We are proud to be honored for a sixth consecutive year, serving as proof that we continue to drive the industry forward in enabling the experiences that consumers continually expect on multiple devices, at any time," said Staffan Pehrson, Vice President and Head of TV, Ericsson.

The Ericsson SPR1200 multi-screen stream processor and Ericsson NPR1200 multi-screen network processor are core to the most scalable and flexible multi-screen TV solution on the market, Ericsson’s complete end-to-end solution for the management and delivery of video services across all screens. They provide best-in-class adaptive streaming compression and segmentation for the delivery of live content and linear channels to any device with unmatched levels of quality, density and flexibility. Through innovation in use of dedicated video hardware and flexible software, they now enable operators to scale their multi-screen TV services in line with consumer expectation, while safeguarding infrastructure investment and minimizing operating costs.
