MTNL to have a common APN for all 3G and GSM customers across Delhi and Mumbai
TT Correspondent |  |  12 Mar 2012

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), leading state run telecom operator of Delhi and Mumbai has decided to have a common access point name for its GSM post paid and prepaid customers across Delhi and Mumbai.

Access Point Name or APN is a configurable network identifier used by a mobile device when connecting to WAP/Web services, MMS or Internet/Mobile Broadband services of a GSM/3G operator.

MTNL Delhi and Mumbai units were having separate APN for their customers; also post paid and prepaid subscribers were using different APNs. Now the entire customer base will be converged on a common APN of “mtnl.net”. This transition will lead to convenience for the new customers. The existing customers shall continue to get uninterrupted internet service on their existing APN till they change to new APN.

MTNL has one of the most developed 3G network across Mumbai and Delhi circle with total subscriber base of 54,90,222 and offers all its subscribers 3G enabled SIM cards.
