MapmyIndia launches house address maps
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  25 Aug 2010

MapmyIndia on Tuesday announced the launch of what it says is India’s first house address maps service with the unveiling of its Maps Version 5.0. Initially the maps are available for Delhi, NCR and Chandigarh.

The new version includes directory of 3 million places as well as street level maps for over 809 cities of India apart from covering 76,000 towns and villages.

The new version aims to address the challenge of last mile navigation while travelling by road in India.

The maps also provide information on points of interest under categories such as offices, restaurants, clubs, apartments, hotels, petrol pumps, ATMs etc. The maps offer voice guidance in 8 Indian languages – Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu (Marathi and others will follow soon) in addition to English and foreign languages.

According to Rakesh Verma, MD, MapmyIndia, “We at MapmyIndia consider Maps Version 5.0 to be a significant development for travelers in India as well as the industry. Releasing house address maps for a country as complex as India was a big challenge, both in terms of data as well as technology.”
