Qualcomm Corp. has tied up with telecom mogul Carlos Slim to roll out Zeebo, a low-cost video game console in Mexico.
As a part of the arrangement, Slim-controlled America Movil will render Internet access for the wireless Zeebo console.
The downloadable content-based console, which is devised particularly for the developing countries, was first rolled out in Brazil in June.
The game console will hit the stores of Mexico by later this year, and hopes to fight the country’s rampant software piracy by making it available through downloads rather than on DVDs.
Besides, the company is also playing up with an affordable price to draw buyers from the black market. |
