VVDN brings 4G Technology in IoT Camera Space using Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 Processors
TT Correspondent |  |  26 Oct 2016

VVDN, pioneers in video and camera technology, continues to drive value across the IoT and connected cameras space with the recent design of a 4G IoT Security Camera Reference Platform based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. The Snapdragon 210 is an integrated quad core processor designed to enable video analytics with HD video capabilities and 4G cellular connectivity to help support security-rich communication as well as edge processing suitable for smart surveillance cameras.

The VVDN’s IoT Security Camera solution is designed to address a wide array of use cases including smart homes, smart cities and other commercial applications. The 4G-enabled camera revolutionizes the surveillance business since it can be quickly mounted without requiring cumbersome cabling or Wi-Fi connectivity.

A True 4th Generation Connected Camera
The new 4G IoT Security Camera Reference Platform provides users an edge by allowing them to reap the benefits of a mobile security connected camera, with the advantage of 4G connectivity. If 4G isn’t available, the camera can fall back to 3G/2G networks.

Designed for smart security, the platform comes with PIR and light sensors and is engineered to perform intelligent motion detection and trigger an alert by transmitting a snapshot or video. The user can configure the trigger options in the application to record the video on the SD Card (128 GB) or in the cloud.  GPS and geo tagging of the cameras is also supported.

The security camera reference platform has built in Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE), which will allow communications with various BLE-based home automation sensors. Two-way communication allows the user to communicate through the camera when an alert is triggered, helping it to operate as a video intercom system as it has an integrated microphone and internal speaker. Additionally, the platform design makes it suitable for indoor/outdoor applications, supports iOS and Android and provides access to AWS Cloud services.

“This new platform for connected cameras combines Qualcomm Technologies’  advanced processing, HD resolution and 4G LTE connectivity with high performance cloud computing and intelligence. Consumers’ surveillance needs are compromised because of complex interaction between mobility and connectivity. We are excited to bridge the gap and bring advanced functionality to connected camera devices which are targeted for security, surveillance, commercial and consumer applications,” said Bhupender Saharan, CEO, VVDN.

“Qualcomm Snapdragon processors bring the scale and proven performance of the mobile devices industry to the Internet of Things helping manufacturers accelerate the development and introduction of exciting new products for this segment. We are excited to work with VVDN and help them launch IoT products in conjunction with our strong engineering teams in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi,” said Jim Cathey, senior vice president and president, Asia Pacific & India, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

This 4G IoT Security Camera Reference Platform is available now and will be licensed to OEMs in India and in international markets.
