Indian operators seek more time to comply with govt directives on BlackBerry services
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  24 Sep 2010

Indian service providers have sought to deploy mechanisms that will allow security agencies to intercept and track communication carried on Research in Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry services.

While the deadline to do was set as September 22, 2010, the operators now want the government to extend the deadline. The operators want the deadline to be extended to this weekend. Tata Teleservices however claimed that it has already offered a compliance letter to the government ahead of deadline.

The operators have told the government while monitoring of Blackberry messenger services is possible, the same is not the case with Enterprise email services.
