Adidas and Samsung have teamed up for the first time to come up with miCoach, a mobile phone that works with Adidas shoes and apparel to plan, track and motivate users in training.
This device combines a mobile phone, heart rate monitor, stride sensor, MP3 player and the voice of a “personal coach” to direct and motivate users at the time of workouts. This product is expected to hit the retail stores in Europe this month only and will reach the US in 2009. The cost in Europe will be around 200 euros to 400 euros ($304 to $608) depending on the service plan selected by the users.
Andrea Corso, spokeswoman for Portland-based Adidas U.S said “This is the most advanced coaching system that is out there”. Earlier Nike and Apple come up with Nike+, a wireless system permitting Nike shoes embedded with a sensor to communicate with Apple’s iPod Nano.
miCoach is the latest in line of tech-sport partnerships between Adidas and Samsung. |
