ZTE Corporation announced UQ Communications (UQC) Inc, the mobile WiMAX license holder in Japan, has started deploying WiMAX Pico base stations which are developed by ZTE.
UQC, a subsidiary of Japan’s KDDI, has reached 373,300 users as of October 31, 2010 since launching its commercial WiMAX business in July 1, 2009. With the rapid development of UQC’s WiMAX business, and the explosive growth of service areas and subscribers, Pico base stations will play a critical role in improving coverage and capacity.
The Pico base station is an important and indispensable network element in the high-speed wireless 4G networks. ZTE, in partnership with UQC and Hitachi, has been leading the industry in terms of Pico deployment for Time Division Duplex (TDD) networks.
The ZXMBW E9201 unit - the WiMAX Pico Base Station developed by ZTE - was selected by UQC for this project due to its small size, light weight, zero footprint, flexible installation and rapid deployment. The unit can be used indoors and outdoors. In addition, the device has low power consumption and green design features. It supports UL 64QAM and adopts high-efficiency data communication and high anti-interference technologies such as MIMO, CSM and FFR to implement high-speed data communication. |
