Atul Malhotra may replace Sanjay Chandra as interim chief
TT Correspondent |  |  26 Apr 2011

The suspense seems to be finally over. After lingering deliberations, a joint venture between realty firm Unitech and Norway’s Telenor, may appoint Atul Malhotra as an interim Chairman replacing Sanjay Chandra, who is under arrest in the 2G spectrum scam.

Unitech Wireless that offers telecom services under the brand name

Uninor, has a majority ownership of Telenor that holds 67 per cent stake

in the entity.

According to sources, Malhotra is one of the people that Unitech

Wireless may opt for to replace Chandra, who is also the Managing

Director of real estate firm Unitech.

When contacted, Unitech Wireless spokesperson said, “We can confirm that Unitech has suggested to replace Sanjay Chandra as Chairman of the

Unitech Wireless Board. This matter will be taken up in the next board

meeting and suitably addressed.”
