Speaking to reporters on the issue, Jayalalithaa said: "With regards to Dayanidhi Maran, I am quite sure the Prime Minister knows what should be done and I am sure he will do it. The Prime Minister should ask for Dayanidhi Maran''s resignation from the Cabinet. I am sure the Prime Minister will do it, if he has not already done it." She added: "Dayanidhi Maran should resign from the Cabinet and face legal proceedings." Opposition parties such as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) said the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam should either declare or deny investments that have been reported in the news magazine Tehelka. Maran on Tuesday issued a legal notice to Tehelka magazine calling its report that he had deliberately delayed clearing application for licenses of certain telecom companies in 2006, a blatant and concocted lie. Maran,a grand nephew of former Tamil Nadu chief minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam supremo M.Karunanidhi, accused Tehelka of pursuing a jaundiced form of investigative journalism. |
