Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa, an accused in the 2G spectrum scam, has sought permission from a special CBI court to attend the Extra-ordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Etisalat DB, a joint venture firm between UAE-based Etisalat and his DB Realty group.
Balwa''s counsel Vijay Aggarwal submitted before the court that his client would attend the meeting in judicial custody and would bear all expenses for the trip. He moved another application seeking direction to Tihar Jail authorities to allow him to undergo an MRI scan. The court asked the jail superintendent to consider Balwa's plea positively as per the report of doctors of Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) hospital.
Meanwhile, Cineyug Films director Karim Morani, an accused in 2G spectrum case, was taken by Tihar Jail authorities to DDU Hospital here for a check-up. Morani appeared two-and-a-half hours late before the court as he was taken for the check-up. "His condition is deteriorating and whenever he comes in contact with dust, his blood pressure shoots up," his counsel submitted.
The court had on Tuesday considered his medical condition and asked Tihar Jail authorities to shift him to a less dusty and cooler cell. The court also reserved its order on Morani's plea that he be allowed to sign documents related to mutual funds and other bank documents and asked his counsel to give details of Morani's bank accounts to CBI. |
