Mobile phone users in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Karnataka have exercised the MNP right most, according latest figures released by TRAI
As of April-end, more than 8.54 million requests for mobile number portability, or MNP, had come in from across the country, of which more than 2.2 million originated from these states, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India said on Monday.
Mobile number portability allows consumers to keep their phone number same while changing their mobile service provider.
According to Trai, the maximum number of requests, 833,672, were received from Gujarat followed by Rajasthan with 710,767 requests, whereas in Southern and Eastern India the maximum number of requests were received from Karnataka, 663,151 followed by Tamil Nadu Service with 641,437 requests.
Last month, Trai directed all telcos not to reject requests if a customer''s outstanding due is less than Rs 10. The telco will include any amount under Rs 10 in the customer's next bill without any penalty. |
