Policy & Regulation | | 2G scam: CBI grills Raja, two others | | TT Correspondent | | 19 Jul 2011 | | | The CBI on Monday quizzed Former telecom minister A Raja, former telecom secretary Siddharth Behrua and Reliance ADAG group MD Gauram Doshi, in connection with its further probe into 2G spectrum allocation scam along with other accused in the case. The interrogation lasting three hours took place Patiala House court complex
They were interrogated inside the lockup at the court complex for one hour each. Behura was questioned first, followed by Raja and Doshi.
CBI interrogated them after Special CBI Judge O P Saini allowed the investigating agency, which is expected to file the third charge sheet in the case by next month, to do so.
Meanwhile, co-accused and Raja's former personal secretary R K Chandolia moved an application before the court saying CBI has not sought necessary sanction to prosecute him. The court has asked CBI to file a reply and will take up the matter tomorrow.
CBI had on July 16 pleaded before the court to allow it to quiz them.
The agency had pleaded that further investigation is being carried out and the three accused are required to be examined in judicial custody in the interest of the case.
The accused had, on the other hand, objected to the plea of fresh interrogation saying CBI must give reasons why it wanted fresh interrogations.
Overruling the objection, the court had said "it is between the court and the prosecution. The accused have no right to be heard in this regard at this stage." |
