A former CAG official who had voiced dissent on the method used by the government auditor for estimation of losses in the 2G scam will be summoned by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the matter.
Reports had it that Director General of audit (post and telecommunications) R P Singh had, in internal communications, maintained that loss in the 2G spectrum allocation could not be quantified.
The issue was raised during yesterday''s meeting of the JPC by Congress member Manish Tewari prompting members to demand that the Committee call for CAG's internal documents for perusal.
The JPC has decided to call Singh, who headed the team that conducted the audit on the allotment of 2G spectrum and licenses, along with Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai at a later date.
Singh retired from the CAG on August 31. The CAG had made a presentation to the JPC on his report on 2G spectrum allocation in May.
The CAG had estimated the losses due to irregularities in allocation of 2G spectrum at Rs 1.76 lakh crore. |
