Bharti Airtel selects vendors to roll out broadband wireless services
TT Correspondent |  |  14 Oct 2011

Bharti Airtel is believed to have selected Chinese telco majors ZTE and Huawei and their European counterparts Ericsson and Nokia to roll out broadband wireless services in four circles.

According to the indications that are coming in, ZTE is likely to get Kolkata circle while its competitor will be offered Karnataka. Ericsson and Nokia may settle for Punjab and Maharashtra respectively.

While the vendors as also Bharti Airtel refused to comment on the ‘prospective deal’ citing policy as reason, it is believed that deal size for each of the contact could be as high as $100 million.

It may be recalled that Bharti Airtel adopted the similar strategy in rolling out the 3G services through Nokia, Ericsson and Huawei in 13 circles.
