Security hole in iPhone 4S allows Siri to access password protected phones
TT Correspondent |  |  22 Oct 2011

A security hole with Siri allows people to send emails or texts even on a locked iPhone 4S.

The hole works this way. There is an option for users to use Siri even when an iPhone 4S is locked with a password.

There would be no way to get information about contacts or launch any apps using this method but one can actually send messages through emails and texts messages even on a locked iPhone 4S through Siri.

The user can instruct Siri to send these messages but he needs to know the exact name of the contact you will be sending the email or text to.

This might seem as a step towards security but still, there is the possibility to send messages even on a locked iPhone 4S.

The problem comes with the default setting for Siri. However, it’s easy to close this security hole.

Those who want to remedy the issue, go to setting then general and then Passcode lock for the iPhone 4S. You will have the option there to stop Siri from working even on a locked iPhone 4S.
