Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is starting his five-day visit to china on Tuesday will meet officials of Chinese telecom major Huwaei, and visit its research and development centre. Huwaei had shown interest in setting up a plant in Gujarat, the government statement said.
"The visit would set benchmarks for strengthening relations between Gujarat and China on infrastructure, economic and industrial development," the statement said. Gujarat and China are looking for cooperation in manufacturing, automobile engineering, port development and information technology, it said.
"The Chief Minister would be holding several meetings with top Chinese government officials and will also interact with the (Chinese) Communist party leaders in Beijing," it added. The Gujarat CM is scheduled to visit Shanghai, Shenzen and Chengudu.
Modi is visiting China on the invitation extended by vice minister of the country's central government, Al Ping, during his visit to Gujarat last month. According to the industry body Assocham, India-China trade is expected to touch USD 100 billion in the next four years from the present USD 63 billion. Chinese power equipment maker TBEA recently signed an MoU with the Gujarat government, to make direct investment of Rs Rs 2,500 crore to set up a Green Energy Park in the state. |
