Etisalat, a leading telecommunications company with operations in 17 markets across Africa, the Middle East and Asia, will share its ‘Broadband for all’ vision at the innovative TEDx Tripoli event in the Libyan capital next week (13 February, 2012).
It is the first major conference to be held in Libya following the revolution and has attracted a diverse panel of speakers typical of a TEDx event including business leaders, decision makers, entrepreneurs, educationalists and artists.
H.E. Mohammad Omran, Chairman of Etisalat Group, will lead the group’s delegation which also includes Jamal Al Jarwan, the Etisalat Group’s Chief Cluster Officer, and Ahmed bin Ali, Group Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications.
Etisalat has secured gold sponsorship for the event and will share the opening session with H.E. Dr. Mustafa Abushagur, Libyan Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Aref Ali Nayed, Libyan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, filmmaker Abdulaziz Belhaj, and Perry Chen, co-founder and Chief Executive of Kickstarter, the innovative online platform for funding creative projects, among others.
Mr. Ahmed bin Ali said that inviting Etisalat to the event is a result of its pioneering ‘Broadband for all’ vision. “Telecommunications is transformational. It connects communities, improves business efficiency and provides opportunities to trade, and it gives individuals access to healthcare, education and entertainment.
He added: “A progressive national ICT policy is fundamental to creating the environment for economic transformation, especially in the emerging markets of Africa and Asia, an aspect that will be highlighted by H.E Mohammad Omran during his presentation at the high-profile event.”
