Apple, Samsung Electronics agree to participate in settlement talks
TT Correspondent |  |  18 Apr 2012

Apple and Samsung Electronics seem to be heading towards peace in a year long legal battle in which Apple claims that Samsung has infringed several patents, including two iPhone design patents, an iPad design patent, and a list scrolling software patent.

Both have agreed on Tuesday to attend a settlement conference in an ongoing patent lawsuit between the two companies, according to court documents.

Both companies told the court they are willing to participate in the settlement conference, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose wrote in yesterday’s order. The CEO and general counsel of each company will appear, according to the filing. Samsung confirmed in an e-mailed statement today that the companies have agreed to participate and said the meeting will take place within 90 days, Bloomberg reports.

In December, Koh denied Apple's request to halt sales of four Samsung products in an ongoing patent infringement lawsuit. Apple had asked Koh to issue a preliminary injunction against sales of Samsung's Galaxy S 4G, Infuse 4G, Droid Charge, and Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the U.S.
