Technopark based MobME Wireless Ltd has developed a Mobile based Crime and Incident Reporting Platform (MCIRP), an advanced 3G based security solution for National Investigation Agency (NIA). MCIRP is a project funded by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and is an exclusive solution devised for NIA to tackle crime and prevent acts of terrorism.
The prototype of this project was first developed for Kochi City Police and was based on 2G technology for Crime and Accident Reporting. Based on the success of this project, the platform was scaled up using advance technology and encompassing 3G technology to develop and indigenous platform to cater to the specific needs of NIA.
Usually Officers, equipped with walkie-talkies, struggle to communicate the gravity of the situation/accident/crime to the agency or control room, several kilometers away. With MCIRP, which is built using MobShare technology, the personnel can take pictures, video and audio recordings and text content of the riot, bomb-blast or crime scene along with geo location tagging. The pre- programmed application will show the time, date and location in the photo, video and audio recordings letting the control-room staff visualize and understand the actual scene and coordinate necessary action efficiently. At a later date, the official can analyze the data to gather trends related to the crime scene.
“NIA officers are constantly on the move for various investigations and it was our need for having a secure communication system that can interact with a central server to relay information. The MCIRP Platform developed with the support of DSIR works perfectly for sending information from our officers on the site to a central system in a secure and efficient manner.” Said Loknath Behera IPS, Inspector General, National Investigation Agency.
“I am happy to note that the MCIRP Platform has also been customized to meet our specific requirements as well. The rugged phone used is waterproof and dust proof to suit hostile conditions that our officers work in.” He added. |
