TT Correspondent |  |  17 Sep 2012

M1 Limited (M1) with network partner Huawei, a leading global Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions provider, launched of M1’s nationwide LTE network in Singapore.

With an increasingly vibrant smartphone landscape, Singapore has one of the world's highest smartphone penetration rates at over 70%. To meet Mobile Broadband (MBB) services demands from end-users, M1 commercially launched the first LTE network within Singapore’s financial district in June 2011, which was also the first LTE network in South East Asia. Today, M1’s LTE network has been expanded to the countrywide, which provides better MBB service wherever in Singapore.

To address the increasing demands from the local market and further reaffirms its lead in the wireless space, M1 launched nationwide LTE Service supported by Huawei with its end-to-end SingleRAN LTE/EPC solution, which is widely regarded by leading global operators as the best and most advanced solution for serving their MBB needs. The solution enables 1800MHz/2600MHz dual-band LTE, so as to maximize M1's spectrum assets to provide customers with best possible coverage and user experience.

"We are delighted to continue the successful partnership with M1 and to help M1 build an advanced world-class LTE network, while assuring an efficient, sustainable and future-proof network operation.” said Ying Weimin, President of GSM&UMTS&LTE Network, Huawei. "We will continue customer-centric innovation, and commit to be the best business partner for our customers worldwide."

To date, Huawei has secured 92 commercial LTE/EPC contracts and has already launched 45 commercial LTE networks with leading operators globally, more than any other infrastructure provider. With a global business footprint in all five continents, Huawei is driving development and commercialization of LTE worldwide.
