Orange, Facebook in pact to launch social calling app “Party Call”
TT Correspondent |  |  22 Nov 2012

French telecommunications firm Orange on Thursday said that it has tied up with Facebook to launch a social calling application called “Party Call”.  The app will be launched in Fance in summer 2013.

Party Call’ feature will be available on the mobile and desktop versions of the social networking website, and users will be able to call each other and make group calls using ties on Facebook.

“By connecting its Party Call service to Facebook, Orange will be able to offer customers a truly personal experience. It is a great example of how companies can use Facebook’s open developer platform to make their products social. We are really happy that Facebook is transforming telecoms just as it has gaming, music, video and numerous other online services,” a Facebook spokesperson was quoted by TechCrunch.as saying.

According to TechCrunch, Orange is still working out how it will market Party Call, but eventually it will also be rolled out beyond Orange’s subscriber base. Perret says, Xaviet Perret, VP in charge of strategic partnerships at Orange, the plan is definitely to go international with this after initial rollout in France.
