Videocon to launch high speed data LTE services in 2013
TT Correspondent |  |  06 Dec 2012

Videocon Mobile Services is planning to roll out complete 4G products and services across the newly won circles in 2013.

Videocon in the recently concluded 2G Spectrum auction, bagged liberalised spectrum in six circles of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh, Gujarat UP west, UP east, Bihar and Jharkhand.

Having re-won the spectrum for the 6 circles, viz, Gujarat, Haryana, MP, Chattisgarh, UP (East), UP (West), Bihar & Jharkhand and with the ongoing operations in Punjab.

It said that it will ensure that customers keep on enjoying the best services and great value for money product offerings seamlessly.

The spectrum won by Videocon in the recent auction is paired and liberalised, ie, the spectrum can be used to roll out Next Generation Networks and Services by adapting a highly spectrally efficient 4G technology FDD LTE.

This enables operators to gain more efficiency using the same spectrum resources. Next-generation network technologies enable about 30 times more data capacity than a traditional 2G network, allowing telcos to extend the lifespan of existing spectrum assets and reduce the amount of additional spectrum required. Videocon Mobile Services is planning to roll out complete 4G products & services across the newly won circles in 2013.

Videocon Mobile Services Director & CEO, Arvind Bali shared the future plans and vision for the company, Bali said,“We have spectrum in 7 circles constituting a very high population footprint in India. These are also the areas where we enjoy a strong position already and where we see the highest potential for continued growth and profitability. "

GSM Services brand ‘Videocon Mobile Services’ launched operations in Punjab two years ago, and has become the fastest growing telecom service in the state. Videocon Group plans to further strengthen the telecom business in Punjab by investing additional Rs 800 Crores towards creating 100% network coverage and cutting edge technology deployment over the next three years. Fixedline brand ‘Connect’ has been operating in Punjab for over a decade and enjoys tremendous brand equity. It continues to be the market leader in the broadband space. Today the company has around 2 million telecom customers in the state with both these brands that are being serviced and supported by over 25,000 channel partners. Every quarter about half a million new customers join the Videocon family.

Its a good Idea to Launch GSM & LTE Services in 1800Mhz spectrum, but the capacity will be very low as vediocon has only 5Mhz frequency spectrum in al the 6 circles, How they will manage customers if subribers base will become high.
