MediaTek awarded as Chipset Company of the Year

MediaTek on Friday has received the Voice & Data Telecom Leadership Award in the ‘Chipset Company of the Year 2012 for Feature Phones’ category, for its leading market position in the segment.

The award was presented to Anku Jain, Senior Director of Engineering & Deputy General Manager, MediaTek by Sanjay Kapoor, CEO, Bharti Airtel and Pradeep Gupta, CMD, CyberMedia.
 
The award Jury was chaired by Sanjeev Aga (ex MD, Idea Cellular, and winner, Telecom Person of the Year Award 2011), and included Pradeep Gupta, CMD, CyberMedia, RK Upadhyay, CMD, BSNL, Rajan Mathews, Director General, COAI, Rajesh Agarwal, MD, Micromax, Fredrik Jejdling, MD, Ericsson India, Vijayshekhar Sharma, MD, One97 Communications, PK Roy, Editorial Advisor, CyberMedia, and Jagannadham Thunuguntla, Head of Research, SMC Capitals.

MediaTek has continually strived towards delivering lucrative prospects to developers and their customers by providing features such as improved user interactivity, mobile connectivity and rich multi-media experience at affordable prices.

MediaTek has successfully been providing solutions to make feature phones more competitive and smart by incorporating smartphone like features. And now, MediaTek has also moved to introduce more affordable solutions to help commence a new era of smartphones in India.

Earlier this year, MediaTek has launched its first Dual Core platform, MT6577, developed specifically for sub $200 smartphones, adding to it’s much acclaimed and well accepted HSPA smartphone platforms MT6573 and MT6575.

On MediaTek being selected as the ‘Chipset Company of the Year’, Grant Kuo, Managing Director, MediaTek India, says, “Since its inception MediaTek has been actively contributing in the evolution of the global mobile ecosystem by constantly introducing innovative technologies that provide unparalleled experience to users at affordable prices. Some of the capabilities of MediaTek’s chipsets, such as the increased application and browser performance and advanced multimedia features have been bridging the performance gap between entry level and high-end smartphones, thereby changing the market dynamics of the Indian smartphone industry.
