Cupid seems to be smiling on Micromax Canvas HD with its Valentine’s Day launch doing wonders for the company. The company on Friday claimed that its sales have crossed 9000 mark within 24 hours of its launch.

The company said that the much awaited device was sold out within 15 minutes of announcing the sale at midnight of 14 February 2013. This is based on the data provided by the company’s online partner snapdeal.com.

It said that the second lot of 300 units of the phone was again sold out within 15 minutes of the sale at 09:00 am and the third lot of 1200 phones was sold in 45 minutes with the beginning of the sale at noon on the first day itself.

“Now we have over 9000 units booked in less than 24 hours and counting” the company said.

Priced at Rs. 13,990, the device is powered by MediaTek’s MT6589 1.2 GHz quad core processor and run on Android Jelly Bean. With an HD IPS screen with a HD resolution of 1280x720 and a color depth of 16.7 million, the phone comes with superb graphics and HD viewing experience. It is It is supported by a 2000mAh battery.

Encouraged by early success Shubhodip Pal, CMO Micromax, said, “This is the first time our online sales partners have ever witnessed a digital queue in cyberspace to such an extent for any product, to the traditional cue one normally sees. The data also shows that 60% of the orders received online have come from the metros.”

He said that the company expects the sales of this device to touch a new high in the coming weeks which will soon be available for sale at all leading retail stores in the country.
