  Telenor India has entered into a managed and transformation services pact with Alcatel-Lucent for operations in India. Alcatel-Lucent will provide managed and transformation services to Telewings Communications Private Limited, a fully owned Telenor Group company.
The agreement will cover the three ‘circles’ of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, covering a population of more than 257 million people in three of the fastest-growing provinces for Telewings for new subscribers.
Telewings secured spectrum for six telecom zones in recently held auction. They are- Gujarat, Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh east, Uttar Pradesh west and Andhra Pradesh
It acquired spectrum in the six circles for Rs 4,018 crore. Telenor had to pay Rs 1,326 crore, or 33 per cent of the final bid amount, to the government as the first-year payment.
Telenor, which entered the Indian market in 2009 through a joint venture (JV) with Unitech Group, bought back the latter’s stake in the JV after the Supreme Court cancelled its licence in February 2012.

Alcatel-Lucent will leverage its global managed services expertise and tools to deliver network transformation services focusing on improved customer experience management and operational efficiency.
Bell Labs, the research organization within Alcatel-Lucent, will provide expertise on network and business modeling to achieve Telewing’s transformational objectives.
Alcatel-Lucent will deploy established standards-based network performance tools and expertise to improve and transform existing networks.
