  The Indian handset maker has launched another Android 4.1, 1.2GHz quad-core processor smartphone the Wammy Passion ‘Y HD’. The device is priced at Rs. Rs. 16,999. The company recently launched Wammy Desire and Wammy Titan smartphones.

Last month while talking to TelecomTiger, Though while talking to TelecomTiger, Finbarr Moynihan, General Manager- Business Development, MediaTek said India is going to be an important market for the company and its wants to stay focused on our own platforms.
In February Micromax launched Canvas HD (A116) with MediaTek’s quad-core platform. While MediaTek is hoping to made massive inroads into Indian market with its quad-core MT6589 smartphone platform, Qualcomm it is learnt to come out with similar chipset in 2013.
He said that in India, MediaTek’s focus will not be on feature phones and smartphones but will also be on tablets.
The Wammy Passion ‘Y HD is powered by MediaTek's MT6589 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and will run on Android 4.1 (Upgradeable to 4.2 Jelly Bean). It packs in a 2800mAh battery. Wickedleak Wammy Passion come with 5-inch HD IPS screen that supports HD resolution (1280x720) and a colour depth of 16.7 million. This smartphone is expected to be available in the market on 14th March 2013 and currently up for pre booking on the company website. This Device will be retail for Rs. 16,999.
The smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 4X zoom , 99 shots burst . There is a 2MP front camera on-board. Other features of the smartphone include 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to up to 32GB via microSD card.
