Apple iPhone and iPod touch owners have won the warranty battle with the company agreeing to pay $53 million to them who complained that company did not comply with the warranty by refusing to repair or replace broken iPhone and iPod touch units which were deemed to be damaged due to contact with water, according to Apple Insider who used the Wired as news source.
According to Wired, which acquired a leaked copy of the agreement, the settlement was signed by Apple counsel Noreen Krall on Wednesday and will be filed with a California federal court sometime in the next few weeks.
Wired says that affected devices include the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and the first-, second and third-generation iPod Touch. Individual payments are to be about $200 but could be less or more depending on the number of claims.
