Micromax, India’s leading handset manufacturer has claimed that it has sold over a million units of its flagship Canvas range of smart phones.
The company is buoyed by phenomenal and instant success of its Canvas HD which was launched amid huge fanfare on Valentine’s Day in February. The company sold 9000 units in less than 24 hours of its launch. It even went out of stock due to huge demand.
According to a study, Indian handset manufacturers like Micromax, Karbonn and Lava will compete with their global counterparts in future.
The study reveals that Micromax in on number three position as far as the ranking of companies in the Indian market is concerned. Nokia continues to lead the pack with 21.8 per cent share, followed by Korean giant Samsung (13.7 per cent) with Micromax which in the recent past gas given a tough competition to exiting handset giant occupies the third position with 6.6 per cent market share.
Commenting on the success of the Canvas Range so far, Shubhodip Pal, CMO, Micromax, said, “The Canvas series has proved to be a trendsetter in Indian smartphone segment. The demand for these devices has been on an upward curve from the time of their launch. These are our flagship models and the overwhelming consumer response has made us confident that we are headed towards the right direction”.
Micromax said that it is planning to introduce exciting range of new Canvas phones in coming months.
