India’s one of the leading telecom service provider Idea Cellular has launched another budget Android smartphone Idea Whiz on its website. The device has appeared on its site with a price tag of Rs. 7,850. There is no news of its official launch so far.
The device with 4-inch WVGA display runs on Android 4.0 and is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor. It has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory storage. The dual-SIM Idea Whiz sports 5-megapixel auto-focus rear camera and VGA front camera.
It comes with 1500 mAh battery, which can give 12.5 hours of talktime on 2G and 8.5 hours on 3G.
According to company’s website it offers free 3G data for first three months. The states where it is available are- AP, Gujarat, HP, Haryana, J&K, Kerela, Maharashtra, MP, UP (W) & UP (E) circles. For rest of the circles 2G data benefits available.
The phone claims to offer faster internet browsing, email updates, games and smart applications and widgets, with 4GB internal memory and 1500 mAh powerful battery.
The company is betting on 3G offerings. Few days back Idea had launched Aurus 2 in the same category at Rs.6,490. Before this Idea had launched five 3G smartphones-Idea Zeal, Idea Ivory, Idea Aurus, ID 918 and Idea Blade- all in sub-Rs 8,000 category. The company claimed good response from these launches. Idea has said that has already sold over 300,000 3G smartphones over the last one year.
