Hungama Mobile, Tata Indicom, IMImobile make it to 2008 Meffys Awards nominations

The Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) has released the 2008 nominations for the industry’s coveted Meffys Awards, calling for thousands of submissions from over 20 countries; with India also being one of them.

 

The companies short listed to represent India comprise of – Hungama Mobile and FTV, Tata Indicom and Opera Software, and IMImobile.

 

Hungama Mobile’s campaign for FTV India showcases an array of exciting features including a downloadable FTV Mobile Application, FTV videos, imagery, fashion tips, fashion games etc all on mobile phone.

 

Speaking on the second consecutive nomination in the prestigious award, Neeraj Roy, MD and CEO, Hungama Mobile, said, “We are delighted to be nominated for the second year in a row. The Meffys is an international platform and it is truly an honor for us to be nominated for the creativity demonstrated by the team at Hungama Mobile. The folks at FTV India were very receptive to the ideas given by our team and were committed towards offering a converged consumer experience across mobile, Internet and television.”

 

IMImobile, the global provider of value added services for mobile operators, in association with Nokia, earned it self a nomination for its own ‘UnIspace’ in the Emerging Markets Award category following a successful deployment at Malaysian operator Maxis.

 

“We are seeing very strong demand from operators to roll out mobile user-generated content services, and it is great that Meffys, the Oscars of mobile entertainment, have recognised that UnIspace offers a cost-effective and very fast route for operators to do this,” commented Vishwanath Alluri, CEO, IMImobile on the recognition.

 

The Meffys Awards, which was first held five years ago is independently judged by UK media and leading trade journalists and analysts.
