2G case: CBI wants inclusion of Anil Ambani, wife as witnesses
TT Correspondent |  |  30 May 2013

In a significant development the CBI has demanded the inclusion of Reliance ADAG chairman Anil Ambani and his wife Tina as witnesses along with 17 others in 2G spectrum case.

The contention of the CBI which has filed an application in the 2G court for calling additional witnesses is that it will help in strengthening the prosecution case."

Special CBI Judge O.P. Saini issued notices  all accused in the 2G spectrum case seeking their response on July 3 after Special Public Prosecutor U.U. Lalit told the court that their testimonies are required to be recorded “to arrive at the truth”.

While issuing the notice the judge said that  he would decide on July 3 as to whether it would seek a reply from the accused on a separate CBI plea seeking to recall Department of Telecommunications (DoT) official Nitin Jain as a witness in the case.

Lalit told the court that summoning of these witnesses are required for recording of their statements to ascertain the truth.
