Lenovo to launch sub-Rs 5000 smartphone for Indian market-Report

The struggling Chinese computer giant Lenovo is now betting on smartrphones sales in emerging markets, particularly India. After launching six android based smartphones, the company is planning to introduce sub-Rs 5000 smarphone in the Indian market, according to Hindu Business Line. 
 
Indian handset brands like Micromax, Lava and Karbonn are doing well with their budget smartphones and are fast expanding their base in smartphone market which so far was dominated by Samsung and Nokia.  Lenovo is being seen as the a new competitor.
 
The company which is planning to sell one million smartphones in India this is also planning to expand its partnership with distributors like Ingram, Advanced Computer and Redington for a presence in tier-II and III cities in the country.
 
Lenovo K900 which was showcased at CES earlier this year was launched for the Indian Market last week. This Lenovo flagship Android smartphone has a price tag of Rs. 32,999.

Along with K900 Lenovo also launched P780, S920, S820, A706 and A390. All of them are Android based smartphones.

The company will sell these smartphones through its 3000 retail stores across India.  It also hinted to open more retail stores in Indian to expand its reach in the country.
