Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablets to be available in India from June 27 at Rs15,999 and Rs. 21,999

Amazon has launched its Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablets for the Indian customers. This will give a huge impetus to competition in tablet market which recently saw the release of large number of devices.
 
The tablets will be available online at Amazon.in and at over one hundred retail outlets across India starting June 27.

The 16GB variants of the Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablets have a price tags of  Rs. 15,999 and Rs. 21,999 respectively, while the 32GB storage variants of these tablets can be purchased at Rs. 18,999 and Rs. 25,999 respectively.
 
Along with these tablets Amazon also launched the Kindle Paperwhite ebook reader whose Wi-Fi version would be available Rs. 10,999, while its Wi-Fi plus 3G version has a price tag of Rs. 13,999.
 
These tablets would be available at over one hundred retail outlets including Croma, Reliance Digital, E-Zone and Vijay Sales in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Pune.
 
The 8.9” display on Kindle Fire HD features an 254 pixels per inch with a resolution of 1920x1200, while the 7” Kindle Fire HD has HD display with 1280x800 resolution
 
Kindle Fire HD comes with dual-band Wi-Fi and can automatically switch between the 2.4 GHz network and the less crowded 5 GHz network, resulting in better range and less interference. Both tablets have 1GB of RAM
 
The 8.9” Kindle Fire HD is powered by the latest generation OMAP4 4470 processor and Imagination SGX544 graphics engine capable of over 12 billion floating point operations per second, and both Kindle Fire HD 7” and 8.9” come with higher memory bandwidth than Tegra 3, Dual stereo speakers and exclusive Dolby audio.
 
Last month Amazon had announced their availability in 170 countries and territories around the world for pre-order through Amazon.com, giving customers access to millions of apps, games, books, audiobooks and magazines, including more than 300,000 books that are exclusive to the Kindle Store.
 
According to reports nearly 10,000 tablets were shipped everyday during the first quarter, and overall shipments recorded a 150percent growth.
 
A CyberMedia report said that the continued long-term growth in shipments of tablets in the India market further points to the fact that a large proportion of first time users of computers in emerging markets like India are getting to experience computing through this highly portable, converged form factor.
