Recently telcos like Airtel Idea and Vodafone India offered free roaming through special plans and packages.

Like Airtel and Vodafone, BSNL has offered unlimited free incoming calls for Rs 5 a day to its customers (Rs 69 for 30 days). It announced the outgoing local and national calls at 1.5 paise per second.

BSNL also launched two Roaming Tariff Plans (RTP) for post-paid customers for Rs 145 and Rs 625 for services like free calls and SMS. Besides, it offered RTPs for Rs 149 and Rs 825. These include free unlimited incoming calls for a month. BSNL offered an RTP for Rs 405 and free roaming RTP for Rs 705 pre-paid customers.

Earlier Airtel and Idea cellular had offered ‘free roaming’ in the country with Airtel offering it with a fee of Rs 5 per day for its prepaid customers and Idea doing so through roaming vouchers.
