Swipe, a California based Telecom Company has launched a 7 inch Slash Fablet in partnership with MTV targeting youth claiming that It is a handy device offering information, communication and entertainment (ICE) to the users. The dual-SIM device is available on e-commerce portal Infibeam.com with a price tag of Rs 9,490. Both Swipe and MTV have jointly launched smartphones in past as well.
The Device runs on Android Jelly Bean OS and powered by 1 GHz dual-core processor. It comes with DDRIII 1 GB of RAM and a 7 inch HQ Capacitive Multi-Touch Screen with the resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.
It sports dual camera with Flash-- rear camera is 5.0 MP while the front facing camera is of 0.3 MP. Other features include It also has FM Radio with the facility of live recording directly from the radio. For connectivity it has Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, USB 2.0, GPRS options.
In February both MTV and SWIPE Telecom had jointly launched their 1st co-branded new generation 6 inch fablet, ‘MTV VOLT’at at Rs 12999.
In the recent past there has been an exceptional growth in the usage of technology like tablet PCs and Fablets amongst the youth in India. This has witnessed a CAGR of 59%. Both MTV and Swipe seems to have exploited this trend by producing this device. It provides everything that youth want-information, socializing and entertainment.
Both the partners are planning to develop a diverse portfolio of MTV phones and fablets, built around youth interests and aspirations.
