5-incher Lava Iris 505 with 3G video calling launched at Rs 9,499

LAVA which in the recent past relied on the Iris series 3G enabled low- budget smartphones, has now launched a mid-budget Lava Iris 505 for Rs 9,499.

The Iris 505, features a 5-inch display with 480x854 pixels resolution and is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It sports a 5MP camera (rear auto-focus with in-built flash) that provides multiple camera options including panorama mode, smile detection to capture stunning photographs and a 0.3 MP front camera for 3G video calling.

The Iris 505 comes with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of inbuilt storage with expandable up to 32GB through microSD card. The smartphone is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) device with dual standby. It supports various connectivity options which include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, EDGE, GPRS and 3G with downloads speeds upto 21 Mbps.

Under the hood, the smartphone boasts a 2000mAh Li-Pol (Lithium Polymer Battery) for an extended battery life. The Iris 505 is FOTA upgradable which helps to update the handset's software ‘over the air’, without connection to a PC or any other device.

Continuing from its successful predecessor iris 504q, the iris 505 also features gesture control which helps a user change music tracks, click pictures, change FM channels and browse the gallery with a swipe of the hand without touching the screen. It also has quick note pad editor which enables a user to scribble notes during a call and a magnification gesture   in which a user can triple tap on the screen to zoom in and out anywhere on the screen except for the keyboard & navigation buttons.

Erlier, Lava launched the Iris 356 and Iris 402 with price tags of Rs. 4,499 and Rs. 5,499 respectively.
