Orange will launch VDSL2 in France from 10 October. Mass Market customers who already have a Livebox Play will have access to faster internet connections at no extra cost. Businesses which subscribe to the Business VPN network offer will also enjoy VDSL2 access.
This roll-out reaffirms Orange's ambition of bringing its customers the best of high and very-high speed fixed and mobile networks. Close to 8.5 million customers have already optimised their ADSL connections since 2010. Today, Orange is going even further by offering its customers VDSL2.
VDSL2 offers eligible customers higher uplink and downlink speeds than ADSL. On very short lines, it offers significant improvements, with average speeds of 15 to 50 Mb/s. Under certain conditions, the customers located closest to SCN (Subscriber Connection Nodes) can theoretically achieve downlink speeds of over 100 Mb/s.
Orange is launching VDSL2 to support of the modernisation of its copper network and to offer Livebox Play, Open Play and Open Jet subscribers the best possible speeds available on their connections. In order to help its customers enjoy the best of the internet, Orange will provide customers who already have a Livebox Play and are ineligible for fibre with VDSL2 at no extra charge.
With VDSL2, Orange TV will be available in HD on multiple screens for most mass market customers.
Businesses which subscribe to the Business VPN network offer will be able to provide their employees on small sites with more fluid data exchanges (e-mail, large file transfers, etc.).
This launch is a part of Orange's strategy of using a full palette of technologies to support changing usages, including Fibre (FTTH and FTTO), VDSL2, Increased Speeds for SCNs, very high speed mobile with H+ and 4G, and satellite for isolated residential customers. |
