Bharti Airtel acquires Qualcomm founded Wireless Business Services

India’s leading telco giant Bharti Airtel Limited, on Friday announced that it has completed the acquisition of 100% equity shares in US-based Qualcomm's Wireless Business Services Private Limited, which holds BWA Spectrum in the Indian telecom circles of Mumbai, Delhi, Haryana and Kerala.

With this, Wireless Business Services Private Limited has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharti.

In July this year Bharti Airtel bought an additional 2% stake in all the four Indian broadband wireless access (BWA) entities of Qualcomm.

In May 2012 Bharti Airtel and Qualcomm had entered an agreement under which Bharti had acquired 49% interest in Qualcomm AP's India entities that hold BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala.

Shares of Bharti Airtel surged around 3 percent intraday on Friday on its acquisition. . The stock closed at Rs 356.60, up Rs 7.90, or 2.27 percent on the BSE.
