  Vodafone, which entered India in 2007 by acquiring Hutchison Whampoa's local cellular assets in an $11 billion deal is planning to invest Rs 4,000 crore to Rs 6,000 crore every year in India, according to a PTI report.
The company directly and indirectly owns a combined 84.5 percent of Vodafone India, the country's second-biggest telecoms company by users.
The report said that Vodafone has already spent Rs 55,000 crore since it began its operations in India.
Vodafone which has 15.43 crore subscribers in India lost 85,811 users in August. Leading telecom firms are is looking for consolidation of market after the government approved 100 percent FDI in telecom sector.
Earlier this week Vodafone had given a hint to the telecom minister Kapil Sibal that it would invest 2 billion in its local unit following the rule change, according to Reuters. |
