Dayalu Ammal, wife of DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Monday gave her statement in 2G spectrum case at the latter’s home. The chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) M Gopalan on Monday recorded the statement. She is a prosecution witness in the case.

84-year old Dayalu Ammal is learnt to have testified before the CBI officers that she does not know anything about the 2G case. She gave her responses in Tamil.

Her going back on her statement means that now she runs the risk of being declared hostile. 

Dayalu Ammal said she was not even aware of Kalaignar TV, the DMK's mouthpiece of which she is part owner along with her step-daughter Kanimozhi,

According to the CBI, the channel received kickbacks worth Rs. 214 crore for A Raja, who as Telecom Minister in 2008 gave out-of-turn licenses with free second-wave or 2G airwaves to ineligible companies.
